Privacy: using Citeproof in Claude

What we receive

When you use Citeproof from Claude, Claude sends us the text or identifiers you ask it to check: reference lists, DOIs, arXiv IDs, PMIDs, a claim and an abstract. It also sends a token that identifies your Citeproof account.

We do not receive your Claude conversation, memory, files or chat history, and we do not ask for them.

What we store, and for how long

• The result of each check: the references as written, the matched records and their status, in your account history for 180 days
• A count of the checks you used in the month, to apply your allowance
• A record of each connection you approved, and its tokens in hashed form. Access lasts one hour at a time; a connection lapses after 30 days without use
• Technical logs needed to run and secure the service

We do not keep the rest of the text you pasted. So that a retried request is not counted twice, the result of each call is also held for up to one hour.

Who else sees it

• Reference details go to Crossref, DataCite, OpenAlex and Semantic Scholar, and to doi.org, so they can be looked up
• If you subscribe, Stripe handles the payment on our website. We never see your card number, and nothing is charged from inside Claude
• Anthropic handles your conversation under its own terms. We get nothing from Anthropic beyond the tool calls described above

We do not sell your data or use it for advertising.

Your choices

• Disconnect at any time: in Claude under Settings, Connectors, or with Disconnect Claude on your account page, which ends every Claude connection to your account at once
• To delete your history or your account, write to ethan@leandiscoverygroup.com. We delete it within 30 days
